It's TUESDAY(!) & that means it "Montana History" this evening up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby. I'll be up there at 6 o'clock SHARP this tonight to continue on with our current read, "Girl from the Gulches; The Story of Mary Ronan". What a delightful read this one is! We're already on page 52 & tonight, young Mary's pop shows up at Last Chance Gulch in the spring of 1865 with flour & other supplies. Hopefully he'll bring along some Montana Micro Brews! Ellen Baumler, the Interpretive Historian at the Montana Historical in Helena & author of "Spirit Tailings: Ghost Tales from Virginia City, Butte, and Helena does her usual superb work with "Girl from the Gulches; The Story of Mary Ronan" & I agree with author Mary Clearman Blew when she writes, "Girl from the Gulches" is ONE of the most important personal recollections of Montana's mining frontier". I can't wait to get back to the Marias Heritage Center tonight to read more "Montana History". Check out the book from the Montana Historical Society Press in Helena at: www.montanahistoricalsociety.org. See you tonight at the Heritage...I'll be wearing my special "reading glasses".
