FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth & career success through agricultural education. Our Shelby FFA numbers 80 some members STRONG & includes both high school & junior high students. We're looking at around 60% male & 40% female Shelby FFA members. If you ask me, these kids have "The Franchise" on the word "accomplishments"! Their Ag Mechanics team placed 2nd at Divisional competition & qualified for state down in Bozeman. The Shelby FFA chapter traveled to Cascade to meet the National FFA VP Sydney Snider. Besides their taco booth last summer at the 4 County Marias Fair, they held multiple fundraisers throughout the year & received "Best of Show" for a utility trailer they built at the Marias Fair & the State Fair in Great Falls. AND talk about FUN(!)...the Shelby FFA hosted a "Kiss A Pig" fundraiser & Donkey Basbetball to boot! Shelby FFA young people, like ALL FFA students here in Montana & nationwide are offered a wide array of learning opportunities that are true to life. While "most" of the activities are agriculture-based, the "big picture" is way beyond that! As we celebrate Ag Appreciation Month this month, it goes without saying that Shelby is blessed to have a great agriculture support network in the community, a school board that values the program, & an administration that understands the importance of exposing our kids to the world. I like to say that its "A-OK with FFA!
