US Birth Rate Drops For Third Straight Year

The nuclear family is shrinking.

For the third-consecutive year, births in the US have decreased.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released figures showing births dropped three percent to a hair more than four million in 2010. The consistent decline comes after 2007, when the country welcomed a record 4.3 million babies.

We’re pretty sure people are still getting their freak on, so why do we have fewer little ones to show for it? Pundits blame the troubled economy, claiming women with financial concerns do not feel it’s the right time to add some pint-sized members to their broods.

Officials also say immigration numbers have slowed, which may have played a part in lower birth rates.
