Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week played big roles in their team victories this past week on the football field and the volleyball court.

Cut Bank improved their standing in the 1B district winning two straight matches over Rocky Boy and then that grueling match against Conrad Tuesday night. The Wolves were led by senior Marissa VandenBos who had seven kills and eleven assists in that rocky Boy match and then came back with ten kills, three blocks against Conrad. She also had 15 assists and two aces in the five-game win over the Cowgirls. First year head coach Kelsey Brown says one of Marissa’s best attributes is reading the whole floor, knowing where to place shots and staying focused until the volley is completely over. She was a second-team all-conference pick as a junior.

Our male athlete of the week showed up big, especially in the second half of a key conference match-up between Sunburst and Valier. Senior running back Colton Wheeler scored three of the panther’s four touchdowns. Wheeler would go on to score twice more, but also key was his 24 yard kick return to set up Valier’s second score and then an interception that would lead to the panther’s final drive that iced the game. He also had five solo tackles.

Also nominated this week, Dawson Peterman of the undefeated Fairfield Eagles. Peterman recorded 18 tackles in the Eagle’s win over Townsend.
