Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week were a huge part of their Team's advancement into the next round of the playoffs in Volleyball and Football.
Our Male Athlete of the Week has had the numbers nearly every week to be the Athlete of the Week, but until now, just barely missed out. We're talking about CJI Hawks So. Levi Nelson.  Nelson is not a big player but fast, has a nose for the ball and hits the holes hard.  In last week's convincing 1st round playoff win, Levi carried the ball only 4 times but picked up 61 yards and 3 Touchdowns....near perfection! Nelson scored one more in the 2nd quarter and then also had an interception in the 2nd half with several pass deflections.  Possibly the biggest number of the afternoon was Nelson's 5-6 on extra points.  In 6-man football that extra point is worth 2 and so when you add that all up, he scored more than half the Hawks points.
We also had a nomination this week for Reece Taylor of Conrad, described as a "consistent, dependable contributor to the Conrad Football team."   Reece went 26-28 on extra points this season.
Our Female Athlete of the Week generated one of the most glowing nominations I've seen all year.  The nominator told us Power/Dutton/Brady really showed up at the District Tournament, considerably better than how they played all season, and it was definitely led by 5'-2" Jr. Savanna Salas, "she was everywhere." Coach Mersady Gondeiro echoed those thoughts and says, "Savanna is by far one of the hardest working athletes I have come across and one of her greatest assets is her relentless hustle." She was solid throughout the District Tournament with 12 aces, 19 kills and 78 Digs, but it was the match against Cascade that got P/D/B into the 3rd-4th place match which they also ended up winning. In that Cascade matchup, Salas had 4 kills, 4 aces and 18 digs, but it was in that third and deciding game that Salas took over.  P-D-B was down 8 points when Coach Gondeiro says "she stepped up to serve, dug deep and delivered under pressure, serving ten straight points to complete the comeback win.  And now on to Divisionals as the 3rd place team.
