It didn't take long for our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week to step up and demonstrate their skills in Golf and Track, on the opening weekend.
Male Athlete of the Week honors go to Shelby Golfer Dylan Clark.  Dylan is a Sr. who has played golf for all 4 of his years of high school. Dylan highlighted his skills in the opening Tournament of the season last Friday at Marias Valley, finishing with medalist honors among 64 boys in the field.    He finished the day with an excellent, 4 over par 76. That score included 4 birdies......three of them in a row on the back 9 on holes 15, 16 & 17.  That secured the individual victory and also gave Shelby the Team victory.   As good as the 76 was, it was only a one stroke victory over teammate Marshall Richman who shot a 77.
Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Cut Bank Sr. Jaycee Luse, who along with Simms Jr. Kenna Brooks, was the only girl to win 3 events at the opening meet of the season in Cut Bank last Friday. She started things off with a win in the very competitive 200m defeating 21 other runners and a solid time of just over 28-seconds.  Jaycee came to win the 100m hurdles, barely beating her Cut Bank Teammate Elsa Overstreet in a time of 17.64. And finally, the gruesome 300m hurdles and another first place with a time of 49.55. Three events entered and three events won.    Jaycee is a multi-sport athlete, a leader on both the Cut Bank Basketball and Volleyball teams.
