AMTRAK is now expanding their "Pilot program" that allows travelers to bring their "SMALL" pets along for the ride...at least on many of their Northeast Corridor trains serving Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Washington along with some other selected cities. AMTRAK's now allowing small dogs & cats on "most" long-distance runs. Travelers will be tossed a $25 surcharge & the pet & his or her carrier can't be more than a combined weight of 20 pounds. Of course,ALL  service animals will continue to ride the rails for FREE! As far as our Empire Builder is concerned, I'll keep you posted here on my Puffman Blog. I can see it now, as "The Builder" passes through on its way to Glacier National Park with a pooch gazing out the window of the observation car, one might wonder, "How much is that doggie in the window?"
