My friend & Marias Heritage Center resident Marie Ostrem will be filling in for me tomorrow (Tuesday) evening for Montana History up at the Heritage. Marie will be starting our new book that gives the complete history AND..."The Story Behind The Story" on Sommers, Montana, & what a story it is! In fact, back in 1909, the Industrial Worker, a newspaper published out of Seattle by the Industrial Workers of the World described Somers as "The nearest approach to hell on earth!: The late railroad tycoon James Hill owned everything around Somers including the water, docks, sawmills, county roads, & all the land that Sommers was situated on. According to the Industrial Worker, he even owned the United States Post Office & nearly all the judges & lawyers in Flathead County! It sounds like a great read & this Tuesday's Montana History at the Heritage with Marie should be a blast. Good luck Marie & I'll see you all NEXT Tuesday evening for Montana History at the Heritage.
