KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK BOTH REPRESENTED THEIR TEAMS WELL IN STATE TOURNAMENT PLAY THIS PAST WEEKEND AND EVEN THOUGH NEITHER TEAM MADE IT PAST THE FIRST TWO GAMES, IT WAS IMPRESSIVE THAT THEY EVEN QUALIFIED AND OUR TWO ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK WERE A BIG PART OF THAT. FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS GO TO FAIRFIELD’S 5-10 SR. NAEMI WIPF, A FORWARD AND POST PLAYER WHOSE STRENGTHS INCLUDE HER ABILITY TO MAKE GOOD CATCHES INSIDE AND TAKE THE BALL STRAIGHT TO THE BASKET.  SHE’S ALSO ABLE TO MAKE THE THREE-POINT SHOT AND PLAYS SOLID DEFENSE, MOST OF THE TIME ONE OF FAIRFIELD’S TOP TWO REBOUNDERS. WIPF HAS BEEN ONE OF THE TOP TWO SCORERS FOR THE LADY EAGLES ALL SEASON LONG AND LED THEM WITH 12 POINTS IN A TOUGH THREE-POINT LOSS TO COLUMBUS IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE STATE B.  SHE WAS THEIR 2ND LEADING SCORER IN THE OVERTIME LOSS TO MISSOULA LOYOLA SACRED HEART WITH 12 AGAIN.

OUR MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK BECAME A GO-TO PLAYER FOR SHELBY AS THE SEASON WENT ALONG.  6-1 JR. TANNER PARSONS SEEMED TO BE THE ONE THAT MADE SOMETHING HAPPEN WHEN THE COYOTES REALLY NEEDED SOME OFFENSE AND NEEDED SOME POINTS. ALONG WITH LOGAN LECK, PARSONS WAS SHELBY’S LEADING SCORER IN BOTH GAMES OF THE STATE B TOURAMENT WITH 16 AGAINST COLSTRIP AND 11 AGAINST ROCKY BOY.  PARSONS WAS TOUGH THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, DIVISIONAL AND STATE TOURNAMENTS WITH HIS SECOND BEST GAME OF THE SEASON WITH 25 POINTS AGAINST GLASGOW IN THE NORTHERN B DIVISIONAL.
