Our KSEN/K96- Bozeman trophy athletes of the week both turned in heroic performances in last week's 1B tournament in Cut Bank.

Our male athlete of the week is a unanimous selection after he sent Cut Bank to the championship game on a last-second shot in overtime against Shelby Friday night. With seemingly impossible odds Omsberg got the job done. With just one second left and three defenders really in front of him, it's almost unbelievable that he was able to just get the shot off. Omsberg finished that game with 19 points and ten rebounds, but that last one was his only three-point shot of the game. Cut Bank had to play as tough as anyone in the tournament and picked up a narrow three-point win in the opener over Fairfield and then lost by five to Rocky Boy in the championship game, despite 35 points and seven rebounds by Omsberg in that one.

Our female athlete of the week also played a big role in getting her team to the Divisionals, even though Shelby had beaten the Conrad Cowgirls twice during the regular season, Conrad wasn't about to go away without a fight in the Saturday elimination game. With a trip to Divisionals on the line, sophomore, Skyler Martin stepped up and made 19 of 21 free throws in that contest which made a huge difference in the outcome. Shelby got the victory and the trip to Divisionals in Glasgow. By the way, 19 free throws made in a single game was a Shelby school record, previously held by Lauralee Underdahl and Jennifer Leery with 14. In the four games that Shelby played in the district tournament, Martin shot an incredible 80% from the line on 39 of 49 and scored 60 points total in the tournament.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 - Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; senior Seth Omsberg of the Cut Bank Wolves, and sophomore Skyler Martin of the Shelby Coyotes. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.

And we encourage fans, coaches, teammates and parents to nominate athletes of the week. If you think they've had an exceptional performance email me at mark.daniels@townsquaremedia.com.
