Big numbers leading his team to another key win over a quality team for our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy male Athlete of the Week.  Our female Athlete of the Week had one of her biggest games of the year against one of the best teams she has faced this season.

The Power/Dutton/Brady Titans are having an outstanding Football season with a 6-0 record and the #5 Ranking in the State 6-man poll.   Part of that success and maybe more all the time belongs to QB Nicholas Widhalm who had a huge game against a “quality team.”  Titans Head Coach Tom Tranmer says Widhalm, in his 2nd season as the starting QB “is making better decisions and that always results in better stats.” In the 61-26 win over Geraldine/Highwood, the Jr. QB completed 20-26 passes for 345 yards and a whopping 7 touchdowns with no interceptions.  Coach Tranmer calls Nicholas “a good athlete,” who has started since he was a Fr., but in his second year at QB he is “really starting to understand the position.”

Female Athlete of the Week honors goes to CJI Sophomore Tatum Hull who was instrumental this week in a Hawks win over previously undefeated Chinook.  Rallying from two games down, the Hawks came back to win the match 3-2 and improve their record to 2-4 while the Sugarbeeters dropped to 6-1. Hull led the team with 11 kills, 7 blocks, 17 digs, 4 aces, and 2 assists.   Add to that a 100-percent serving average and it was a darn good night.   Tatum’s nominator tells she brings “big energy to every game and makes outstanding plays.  She’s an academic all-state selection in 3 sports and has been given the President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

Also nominated this week was Shelby Sr. Brielle Aklestad who led the Coyotes with 14 kills in a conference win over Fairfield.  Coach Jessica Brusven says she’s aggressive and always adds a lot of energy on the floor.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Jr. Nicholas Widhalm of Power/Dutton/Brady and Sophomore Tatum Hull of CJI.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank.  McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
