LOCAL SPORTS – “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”

(UNDATED) –KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week closed out the 2023 season in style, hoping for more of the same in 2024.

Our Male Athlete of the Week scored 47 points in the two games that Fairfield played last week, both wins over Choteau and Belt.  After the broadcast of the game against Choteau, our Sports Director Gary Goodan said, “he just doesn’t miss very much.”   5’10” So. Deron Lear was 10-14 from the field in that game and scored 22 points.  He had another 25 in the Belt game.

Deron has also turned into a complete player in just his second varsity season with 16 rebounds, 8-assists, and 7 steals in the two games.  The Eagles have raced out to a 5-1 start on the young season with their only loss by one point to 1B rival Cut Bank.

Our female Athlete of the Week got a quick nod from CJI Head Girls Coach Jordan Taylor when we asked her about a nomination for 5’9” Jr. Jayla Ramberg.   Ramberg was the top scorer for the Hawks in both of their games against Shelby and Big Sandy.

Rebounding was almost as big a factor in the Big Sandy game as were points.  Ramberg hit for 22-points and 14 rebounds in the narrow loss, their 1st of the season 55-50.  In the Shelby game, she also led the scoring with 17 points and 6-rebounds.

We also had a quality nomination for Shelby’s Jr. forward Adele Lamb.  Lamb did a “great” job guarding CJI’s big post player Brynn Kammerzell and had 10 points and 2 rebounds against the Hawks.  She had 13 points and one rebound in the Cascade game.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Deron Lear of Fairfield and Jr. Jayla Ramberg of CJI.   The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.

KSEN encourages all Parents, Coaches and fans to nominate an Athlete of the Week if you believe they have had an outstanding performance.  E-mail: markdaniels@townsquaremedia.com
