Beamed In on Basketball
More specifically, deciding on an Athlete of the Week this week. I have received several nominations from fans and parents in the last 3 weeks and I really appreciate it. It's tough to pick an Athlete when you don't see or hear about the games first hand and see only a box score. Keep those nominations coming in and don't forget, even if I don't choose the Athlete who you nominated it could make a difference down the line. We announce our Athlete of the Week on Wednesday in the 5 pm hour and again Thursday morning at 7:25 am.
It was interesting to talk to Shawn Clark this week about the changes that took place from the MHSA Meeting in January. Namely that the Girls and Boys State B Basketball tournaments will run on the same weekend, at the same site starting next year. He also told us that Shelby has attracted the girls Class B Divisional for next year and with the help of the Shelby Chamber of commerce they will be aggressive in attracting future Tournaments to Shelby. The Chamber in trying to create a fund held an auction at their annual banquet. The silent auction raised $885.00 and the Live auction raised $2,685.00 for a total of $3,570.00 for the Tournament fund.
Dean, "doesn't get paid by the word" Lerum and I will be broadcasting the 10C District Tournament in Conrad next week from Wed. evening thru Saturday night. Not really looking forward to Saturday when there are eight games. It's a long haul.
