Who’s Mary Ann Pierre Topsseh Coombs?

We’ll find out this evening (Tuesday) when I’m reading more Montana History up at the Heritage. Mary Ann was about 10 years old back in 1891, when American soldiers blew in to “escort” the Salish people out of the Bitterroot region & on to the Jocko (now Flathead) Reservation. Mary Ann’s story is another fascinating saga in the book we’re currently reading & enjoying at the Heritage Center Tuesday evenings during Montana History. The book is, “Beyond Schoolmarms and Madams: Montana Women’s Stories,” from the Montana Historical Society in Helena. By the way, the answer is NO, we haven’t YET come to any of the tales on the Montana Madams but I’m sure they’re on their way SOON!. See you tonight at 6 o’clock SHARP for Montana History at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby.
